Hunt Regional was founded on August 1, 1971 following a vote in which Greenville citizens approved a tax-supported hospital district. The hospital was formerly known as the Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville until September 2008, when it was rebranded with its current name, Hunt Regional Medical Center.[3]
In February 2007, construction on a new "West Wing" (including cancer treatment facilities) commenced at Hunt Regional. The new addition to the hospital opened in May 2008.[3] The new cancer treatment facility was formally named the Lou and Jack Finney Cancer Center. The cancer facility is the first of its kind offered in the region.[4]
Services offered at the Finney Cancer Center include chemotherapy and radiation therapy, as well as laboratory and pharmaceutical services.[4]
The Hunt Regional Medical Center is one of the facilities operated under the Hunt Regional Healthcare Banner. In addition to the Medical Center, Hunt Regional Healthcare also operates Hunt Regional Community Hospital (a hospital located in nearby Commerce, Texas), Hunt Regional Medical Plaza (located in Quinlan, Texas), and Hunt Regional Minor Care Clinic (located in Greenville).[5]
